Diane is called away by her job, leaving Andy and Ron to take the girls trick-or-treating. Andy is practicing his observation skills in preparation for the police exam, and carries a tape recorder to describe things around him, including a tree, his hand, and parents handing out candy. Diane and both of her daughters are dressed as princesses, while Andy is dressed as a policeman, and Ron is, once again, a pirate. Although Ron at first declines, Andy ( Chris Pratt) is enjoying playing with the children, and begs to come. In the cold open, Diane ( Lucy Lawless) invites Ron to go trick or treating with her and her daughters. In the episode, Leslie ( Amy Poehler) and Ben ( Adam Scott) try to decide if Ben should continue his campaign manager career or return to Pawnee, Jerry ( Jim O'Heir) has a heart attack, Tom ( Aziz Ansari) comes up with a new business plan, and Ron ( Nick Offerman) struggles in his relationship with Diane ( Lucy Lawless). " Halloween Surprise" is the fifth episode of the fifth season of the American comedy television series Parks and Recreation, and the 73rd overall episode of the series. Parks & Recreation made up for all the abuse Jerry went through by giving him a perfect family and a job he was actually good at, and for which Pawnee will always remember him.5th episode of the 5th season of Parks and Recreation " Halloween Surprise" Though Jerry never excelled at his job in the Parks Department and the National Park Service Midwest Region, he seems to have found his calling when he became mayor – and he surely did a good job, as he was re-elected multiple times. Jerry won Pawnee’s citizens over and lived a happy life after that (not that he wasn’t prior to becoming mayor), and died peacefully on his 100th birthday. Following the death of Mayor Gunderson (Bill Murray) in season 7, Jerry was appointed Interim Mayor as he fitted the criteria for it. Prior to that, Jerry was a park ranger, and it’s up to every viewer’s imagination what kind of embarrassing incidents he got himself into while on that job. At the beginning of the series, Jerry was the office manager of the Parks Department, and it was a running gag how his desk got smaller and smaller with time, especially as more people arrived at the Parks Department. Like the rest of the main characters in Parks & Recreation, Jerry didn’t have one job through the whole series, and he actually ended up in a very important role within Pawnee’s government. Jerry became an important part of Parks & Recreation, but what exactly did he do at the Parks Department? Jerry was clumsy and got involved in all types of embarrassing situations, but he had such a kind heart that he was never rude to his coworkers nor did he stop caring about them. Among those was Jerry Gergich (Jim O’Heir), who was constantly bullied by his coworkers, even though he didn’t see it that way. Leslie worked with some very colorful individuals, such as the extremely deadpan Ron Swanson (Nick Offerman) and wannabe-entrepreneur Tom Haverford (Aziz Ansari).
